Day Three Antelope Canyon here we come!!

Well here's what happened......Our room was on the border of the time change so, when we asked what time the sun came up so we could see a beautiful sunrise, we didn't think to ask what time it was where we were.  There for we got up at 5:40am waked outside (it was black out) started walking towards the bridge, someone was on their way to opening the trading post, we ask where the sun was she said it was to early, it was 4:40am.  So back to bed for an hour for Sue, Kathie sat up and read.  At 5:40 again this is what we saw.

Then we were off heading to Page, Arizona.  1st stop right outside of Page is Horseshoe Canyon, looking like an easy walk to the top of the mountain....HAHAHA!!!  When you get to the top you have to walk another 1/2 down to see the canyon...Oh well we were committed.  

It was breathtaking!!  That little white speck on the left side is a boat.  

But now we had to walk back.

Up Up Up then down 3/4 mile each way.

Off again,but this time to a Super Walmart to buy hats. It's 102 out here.

Now to one of the Most Amazing sights we have seen...Antelope Canyon.

We had to take a tour from the Navajo Indians to get there.  

We sat in the back end of this pick-up truck and took a 20 min wild ride that Disney would charge $45 a person to do.  Then we were there.....pictures don't do it justice.

The Canyon is about 1/4 mile long

We are now about 1 mile deep under ground

When it rain's in this area, 

the Canyon gets flash floods which create the lines and colors on the walls

They had two flash floods in July so the Canyon is about 6 feet deeper than before.

After our crazy ride back to our car it was off to see the Navajo Bridge

We are now heading to the Grand Canyon North Rim Lodge

It's about 225 miles from where we started on the South Rim

As we finally get back into the Grand Canyon National Park the 

road is blocked by Bison crossing the road

When we pulled up to check in we saw this squirrel.  Later we found out this is a rare sighting.  

It's called a Kaibab Squirrel and can only be found on the north rim of the Grand Canyon (something to do  with the pine cones in this area, that they eat) 

It's solid black with a snow white tail.

But the view is amazing!

When the sun starts to go down the colors come alive.  

You better have a flashlight, it gets pitch black really quick

Day Two "The Amazing Grand Canyon"

Well it was a short night, we did not make it up for the Sunrise......

When we did get up we had breakfast at The Coffee Pot - 101 Omelettes.  Then we were off to conquer the Grand Canyon.

I don't even know how to describe the overwhelming feeling we got when we 1st saw this magnificent work of art that God has give us.

After hiking and taking 100's & 100's of pictures it was time to go to our next stop in Cameron Arizona.

We are staying at the Historic Cameron Trading Post.  It was built in 1916, it is the only thing around, good thing we had reservations, or we would be sleeping in our car.  We got here just in time to see the sunset.  The colors were amazing.  They do not have any street lights anywhere around this area so, it's so dark you can't even see your feet.  

Then it was off to dinner.  We had to have the house special a Navajo Taco.  Good thing we only ordered one.  It was to big for the plate.  However we did finish it.

Now we are back in the room trying to figure out where to plug in 3 cameras, 1 video camera, 2 cell phones & the laptop.

Hopefully up to see the sunrise........and a breakfast burrito.

Day One Best of Sedona

Well we both started out at 4:30am heading to airports, then with the time change we were in Arizona by 11:00am and on the road.  This was the first thing we saw... Montezuma Castle a 20-room dwelling 100 ft above the valley./Then on to Montezuma Well. Now this was amazing, a spring fed well and the irrigation system from the well.

Then on to Sedona.  What a wonderful place to visit.  The sky line is amazing.  The pictures do not do it justice.  The red rock is so much more. More color, more shapes, and huge.

Now on to Sky ranch lodge in Sedona. The perfect place, very laid back.

Off to dinner at the Hundred Rox .  Dinner and the view were both amazing.

Now back to see the sunset.  We sat in ahh, of God's amazing beauty!

Just realized it's 12:44am here so, that means it's 3:44am at home.

Gotta Go to Bed so we can see more amazing natural beauty tomorrow.  

Hope to make it to sunrise at 6:am

Grand Canyon Trip

As sisters we have traveled lots of places and seen amazing things, however this trip is going to be our biggest adventure yet.

On Monday August 8th at 6am Kathie leaves Tampa Fl heading to Arizona.

At the same time Sue will leave Raleigh NC for Arizona.

We will both arrive about 11am.  

Let the adventure begin!!
